Can you put a att sim card into a prepaid phone and use it normally?

I have a regular att plan and i want to know if i can put my sim card into a prepaid phone. If it works will it work as if i had opened my plan with that phone?

2. if the prepaid phone is an ATT prepaid phone then yes, it will work by just changing the sim card.. if the prepaid phone is for a diffrent company then it may be subsidy locked, and you will have to get the phone unlocked to use your ATT sim card with the phone... unlocking a cell phone is not illegal, and can be done at most cell phone stores for around $25
