at&t prepay question?

currently im looking into att prepay for a friend. with the phone that i had with verizon wireless, i had the monthly payments, without the contract. i went to the kiosk monthly and put the money in, right in the store. Now does att have a kiosk or something similar without having a bank account? also, any expirience with att prepay? how was it? Is att and cingular the same company now? thanx

1. Yes, AT&T and Cingular are the same now. Yes, you can pay for your AT&T GO Phone in the same manner you paid for your Verizon prepaid phone.
2. Sorry, as you may have heard, att is completely dropping support for their prepay service. As of june 1st, 2007, all customers should have received a 50 dollar gift card to use towards the purchase of a contract phone. By january 1st, 2008, all customers that still remain on the prepay network will be dropped. Also, verizon wireless phones are in no way shape or form compatible to eachother. att uses sim cards verizon wireless uses a non sim card network called CDMA, which is more reliable.
