what is my frequency for my cell phone service?

ok so i have att cell phone service. im thinking of buying a cell phone from ebay. the cell phone on ebay says" supports GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz bands" and the thing is that i want to know if my sim card will work in this phone? well i like i said i have att service and i live in texas? and i want to know my mhz band?

  2. The SIM card does not usually matter what band of phone it is put into. It is not the SIM cards that determine how your phone places or receives a call, the only reason a phone won't work without it is for security reasons. But Cingular uses 2 bands depending on which part of the country you are in. They use 900 in florida, washington and montana, and 1900 everywhere else. Keep in mind...carriers that use the 1900 band has limited coverage...take for example T-Mobile...all they have is the 1900 band.
  3. North American carriers use the 850/ 1900 mhz bandwidths while most other countries use the 900/ 1800 mhz bandwidths. If you have AT&T service you want to make sure the phone has the 850mhz bandwidth or else you are not going to be able to use the phone since AT&T uses the 1900 mhz bandwidth for their 3G service. Also be aware that AT&T doesn't guarantee the data services will work on an unlocked phone (you will be able to make calls and text but that's all).
