Can creditors from like cell phone companys really make your credit score go down ???
The Mobile Solution cell phone dealers are big liers and dishonest.I had a cell phone plan with them, then I wanted to change my number over to another carrier but keep att with a new number so att canceled the account then restarted just for number change. Now the mobile solution sent me a letter from United finacial service that I have to pay over 250 for breach of contract etc...and the creditor is saying that they will make my credit score go down if I dont pay.Can they really make my credit bad?what can I do about this should I contact the mobile solution corporate office? Instead of going to the mall and talking to a manager??

- Yes they can. Why do you think you need good credit to get the phone in the first place. If you dont have good credit, they make you pay the full price for the phone.
- yhey sure can and you do not want that.
- Yes, they can affect your credit. If you signed a service agreement with the phone company, almost all companies charge you for ending your service before the term is up. You're in a position where your only option is to pay the money (check the language of your agreement to make sure) or take a hit on your credit.
- yes...bigtime...
- They can impact your credit score, although it's hard to say how much. If you normally pay everything else on time, you won't be hurt as much by one bad account. However, if you are late on a lot of accounts or don't have a good record with anyone, then you'll see a much larger impact. If United Financial is calling you with that threat, they are probably a collection agency. They may have bought your old debt for a very small percentage of what you owe. If you are really concerned about your credit but can't afford the $250, you can probably get them to settle for a lot less. If you tell them you can't afford the entire amount but you want to settle the debt, they may offer you a deal - like $100 to call it even.
- yes....
