Do you have to be 18 or older to open a phone account in your name?

Im 16 and I want to open an ATT account.

  1. First off, no you can't open your OWN account. I don't know why you would think they would let a 16 y/o have bills like that? Even if you could get an account in your name- you can't even have a full time job yet (it's against the law) so you probably won't be making enough money full time to pay a monthly phone bill. Plus you need to have credit to open an account and if you dont att usually charges like a $400 deposit alone (plus the cost of the phone, activation charges, etc) But anyone can get a prepaid, they cost a little more per minute, and you can never use more than you have, but they are nice in the sence you dont have a responibility to the phone
  2. You cannot open an account at 16. You must be 18 in most places, and some even require you to be 19 to legally be able to sign a contract. If you want your own phone line, you need to talk to your parents and/or other trusted adult.
  3. no you dont i have opened my account on my phone and im 11.
