What is Verizon Wireless Unlimited IN messaging?

Hi. I was planning to get Verizon Wireless Unlimited IN messaging + 500 messages. Does IN mean Sent AND Received? or Just Sent.. And the 500 messages is used for Instant Messaging right, OR texting NON-verizon user's?

1. Verizon counts instant messaging the same as texts; IN is for both incoming and outgoing messages from others with Verizon, and the 500 will apply to both incoming and outgoing message with non-Verizon customers (including IM coming in from a computer)
2. It is actually sending and receiving messages, and it is for all phones, unlimited messaging. As it was explained to me from Verizon.
