How to use internet through wifi on a cell phone?

I have an AT&T Samsung Flight phone. My plan only allows calls-- no texting or anything else. Is there a way for me to connect to the internet using wifi? When I try is says it "failed to connect" .... Do I have to set it up or will it just not work becuase I'm not paying for the internet through at&t?

1. Wifi doesn't go through your phone data plan so the only things I can think of are: weak wifi, bad wifi antenna on phone, wrong password, our a purr wifi signal (bad weather, to far) or your not understanding the settings menu to turn on wifi (done phones have a complicated wifi system)
2. Even if it isn't on your plan you are still entitled to wi-fi. To do this you will have to connect to your house, you will probably need to enter your password to access your home network which is where most people become stuck :/ Good luck!!
