LG Wireless Phone

To get or not to get a Verizon data plan?

So i'm in an odd situation. I have to switch from my current carrier (US Cellular) to Verizon wireless. I was looking at their basic phones because that's what I have now (talk and text), but they all kinda suck. I'm really leaning towards the Driod bionic but the problem is the data plan make my $50 a month plan $80 a month. I'm trying to decide if this is worth it. Here is my situation device wise. I already have a 4th gen iPod touch, I use it for just about everything and use my phone for texting and calls. At my apartment I have 20mps internet and at my job (Bestbuy ) there is Wifi. The reason I consider a data plan is that there are times where i'll be in a part of the city that only has locked wifi or super slow wifi. Things I use the internet for. -Keeping up with technology news (cnet, mac rumors, ext) -Facebook -Google plus -messanger -evernote -Game news ( I am a game design major) -occasional directions (with pre downloaded maps on my iPod) -email (business and personal) Thanks

  1. Definatly worth it! Takes a little getting used to but after that its the best thing ever, ill never go back, exspecially since verizon is unlimited and at&t has a 4gb a month cap then you pay any amount over.
  2. My sister has verizon data plan its fast she never loses a signal and its unlimited unlike my plan with ATT she uses hers for basic stuff like Pandora radio, gps with Google maps, Facebook email the usual. But she is never without internet and never runs slow.
  3. That is an awful lot of money for a data plan. I too have Verizon and have had a lot of issues with my data plan. They continuously charge me for going "over" even though I have unlimited data. After reading your question I would have to say that it sounds like you are usually around free wifi areas where you can use your ipod. I would stick to that, especially with all of the stores now that have free wifi aside from your apartment and work. MGB go extremely fast with Verizon. I used up 75 MGB within 24 hours on my phone just because of Facebook because the website uses a lot of data. It's a hassle and I would just stick to your ipod if I were you!
  4. you can keep your data usage under 1gb a month if u constantly use wifi whenever possible. and make sure u get the bionic or the nexus prime(which comes out in the next 2 months). the nexus is better then the bionic. And the bionic is made by motorola which means the phone randomly reboots itself. id Highly suggest waiting for the nexus. i have the droid x2 by motorola and i cant stand it cuz it restarts and Motoblur (motorolas software) makes is really slow
