With Alltel carrier, can I use a Verizon phone with wifi?

I have an Alltel HTC Wildfire right now, and i want a new phone. The last time i had a Verizon phone with Alltel, I couldn't get on my mobile browser, download apps, stuff that requires a connection. Would I be able to use a Verizon phone's wifi capability to use internet if I'm on Alltel? Thanks for your time.

1. Most likely, but you will have to enter the internet, and text packet settings in order for either to work. I have AT&T for example and i had to enter wap.cingular.com for internet and mms.cingular.com for txt multimedia msgs. Btw, if its a smart phone Verizon will add a few charges.
