Should I get an Iphone for my new phone?

I currently have a piece LG that is starting to break. I've never had a smart phone or anything other than a flip phone for texting. I have verizon and I would get the unlimited data package. I've heard mixed opinions on the Iphone. Does it have great service with verizon? If I didn't get the data package can you still use wifi for free anywhere to download apps or whatever else? I'm mostly interested in the wifi part... that would be a major piece because if its free then i would go with the $10 plan.

1. Yes u should get one I had an iPod touch for the longest time and then I got my phone and it made my life so much easier Yes you can use wifi when when ever you want so long as your connected to it and the iPhone is basically a iPod touch the has the ability to call people and use 3G
2. Yes....of course and if has great service with verizon although there is no way around not getting the $$$ data plan with the phone and service, the data plan is mandatory, even if you just use the wifi on the device, although your bill will be lower just using the wifi.
