Belkin G Wireless router.?

I just bought a belkin g wireless router. I have a cable internet connection. I am unable to access 192.186.2.1 and its getting a little annoying now. I have connected my internet connection through the router. I can surf the internet. But I cannot browse my router settings. I cannot connect my wifi enabled phone or my laptop to the router. I tried re-setting but its of no use. When i wire the internet connection through my router the internet works, when I disconnect the wire between the router and the laptop the internet doesn't work (note the cable internet line is connected to the router) can somebody help in some troubleshooting? yeah i meant 192.168.2.1 i tried 192.168.1.1 but still tht didn't help

1. **OK-EDIT-re answering at the top here--** Does your laptop have an internet wireless card?? If you are unplugging a cord from the router to it-then you need to have a wireless in it to pick up the router signal. Hope you see this ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hi- I had belkin-- the website for mine was 192.168.1.1 (for the main router setup page) I think you may have mixed up the numbers 186 instead of 168--actually I have had 3 diff. belkins and they were all with the 168 in there. not 186 Try that web addy instead to get to the main router page. GL-that should work for you.
