im having trouble connecting my laptop to my belkin router?

i can connect my laptop to my wifi hotspot mobile phone connection (this costs) but not my router . my laptop is new today! its got a button at the back of the router thats got like a padlock sign on it. ive tryed turning it of etc...

1. Re set your router to defalt settings.Then reinstall your router.Good luck
2. Does your router have a button on it such as QSS or WPS? Press that and then try again.
