Belkin to Netgear home wireless network help needed!!?!?

OK I am new to all this so I do need specific information on this. The setup: DOWNSTAIRS I have the internet coming into my house into my virgin media router (netgear) and also plugged into the router is my sony bluray player and I can access the internet wirelessly with my laptop and mobile phone. UPSTAIRS I have my PC that I can get the wifi signal strong enough. The problem now begins.. I also have a western digital mybook world white light 2tb edition and a wdtv live. I want to use my belkin router UPSTAIRS so I can plug in the pc, wdtv and mbwe. I then want the belkin router to speak to the netgear down stairs and bring the internet up to me. Firstly I am not sure if it is possible to do this but cannot see why not. I need help on getting this sorted as I will also want to play the media from the mbwe on my sony bluray player as I am currently having to take it downstairs to do this. I have also been thinking of getting a netgear powerline as I hear they got very little to no interference and this would be better than the wifi signal I get upstairs. BTW it is not possible to put a wire from one end of the house to the other upstairs it just isnt going to happen. So please can someone help?? The wifi method is what I really want to get done and if that is not possible I want to go for the powerline (last resort) I have plugged the belking into the netgear with ethernet to see if it can access internet but I do not know what to tell it to do as its not getting it. The settings are confusing so please answer this as if you were teaching a 5 year old!! Thanks in advance!

  1. I don't know if you can do that with a Belkin, but you can do it with a Linksys. It involves flashing a custom firmware and changing many settings. Powerline is much easier. You just plug it in and it's done. I use it and the speed is much, much faster than wi-fi.
