Can I remove data package from a env2 verizon cell phone?

I recently bought a used LG Envy2 verizon cell phone off craigslist for my replacement phone and I tried to activate it on the verizonwireless website, but it said i have to pay $19.99/m for data package but I don't want it. Can I remove it? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

1. Ohhhhh bad choice. I have the LG envy 2 touch and i asked the verizon store guy, he said that the phone CAN NOT work without the data plan. The only wierd thing is taht for me the plan is only 10 dollars a month for i think 300megabytes.
2. Hi Gladys. I would recheck about that, some people told me that they dont have to pay data for that phone, and others tell me I can opt for the $9.99 plan.... edit I just got that phone today (literally) that I bought from ebay, activated it with no problems, then called and checked, they told me NO data plan or anything like thatis required.
