What is the best way to get internet on second PC that is too far away to directly connect to router?
I have a home office in my basement, that is set up on Qwest DSL through my phone line. I have a wireless router in my office with 4 ports that are connected to three computers via ehternet cable. My wife would like to move one of my PCs upstairs to the kitchen for family use. I don't want to run an Ethernet cable all over my house. Wat is the best way to get internet on the PC I put in the kithcen? Should I just buy a USB wireless adapter for my Netgear router? I would prefer to not have to connect wirelessly but I am not sure what is the best option.

- Netgear sells a device (see link) that runs through your power system. It's called Powerline and one plugs in at the router and the other to an outlet close to the other PC. I have one downstairs in my house and another upstairs to run my XBOX on. Works great. http://www.netgear.com/products/home/powerline-and-coax/default.aspx
- the usb wireless adapter connects to your computer so it can connect to the wire less router. under $35.00 and normal work great. use encryption and you be fine.
- I DO believe you are confused, as a wireless router does NOT require ethernet cable for connections. ALSO, you do NOT put the adaptor on the router!
- If you do not want to connect wirelessly, there is a possibility that you can use power line adapters, you can get these off http://www.ebuyer.com/ or even local stores such as PC World or maplins! If your house is on the same power circuit, all you do is plug one adapter into a wall socket and and a small ethernet cable to the router, and upstairs plug the other power line adapter into a wall socket, and the other small ethernet cable into the back of the PC, this is faster and more reliable than wireless connections! Alternatively you can buy a wireless access point that will Boost the wireless signal Hope this helps!
- get a wireless usb or pci receiver for it. or put a second network card in a computer and run cable from that to your new one.use internet connection sharing in ctrl panel. you may be able to put a wireless nic in both and use the one to provide the connection like above
