LG Wireless Phone

Is the HTC Evo like a wireless device for a laptop?

I walked into a Radio Shack the other day, and I'm not sure if I misinterpreted what the man was trying to tell me. But what I understood was that if I buy the HTC Evo from Sprint it would also give me access to my laptop computer without having to have it connected with Qwest or Cox. He also mentioned that my house phone would be covered too. So I'm not sure if a 4G phone is able to do all that? :/ ahhh I'm confusing myself

  1. What this is known as is "tethering". Basically you can get the internet from your HTC Evo and use it on your laptop even when there's no wifi available.
  2. I moved my family from Verizon to Sprint and three of us got the HTC EVO 4G. My Mom got a simple E-Mail phone. Anyway, back to the question at hand. The EVO 4G has two methods you can use to connect other devices. The first is to use the USB cable that comes with the phone. In this method the phone acts the same as plugging your modem (cable, DSL, or phone) directly into your laptop. The other method is to set the phone up as a hot spot, which allows you to connect multiple devices to the Internet and each other. Sprint does charge extra on a monthly basis for using your phone in either mode. There are methods around getting billed by using various Android applications. You'll find links to various discussions groups (forums) and web pages that discuss this topic. You'll find they can give you details and experience you'll find useful in learning about and getting the EVO and, of course, less confused.
