How to get free minutes for verizon wireless phone?

i Just got a verizon wireless phone and can i get free minutes on it. and when do i get free minutes on weekend after 9:00 i really need some help thanks for your help.

2. Nights from 9:01 pm until 5:59 am on weekdays and from 12:00 am Saturday until 11:59 pm Sunday are free minutes.
