Can my cell phone provider do this to me??!!?
I was going to let my 2-year contract with U.S. Cellular expire on March 15 and not continue service with them. I informed my local U.S. Cellular representitive of this. I was switching to Verizon Wireless and wanted my number ported over to their service. I received a bill in the mail today, from U.S. Cellular, charging me 150 dollars for early cancellation of my contract. I did not cancel my contract! I let it expire! It seems that when Verizon Wireless switched my number over, it automatically ended my plan TWO DAYS before the expiration. I was never informed this would happen. Is there anything I can do?

- Yes, contact customer support for US Cellular and see if they can waive it since you were only two days away. If they do not try filing a compliant with the BBB.
- Sure: contact your original phone service , speak to a senior customer rep and tell them you did NOT cancel you simply advised them that you would not be renewing with their service. It may not help but you can complain to the better business bureau and state telephone regulators. Make it clear that you are NOT happy and NOT going to let this go quietley. As a customer service issue thay should wipe the charge .
- Yes I would contact verizon and speak to a customer service rep and explain what happened and what THEY did . If they won't help you ask to speak to someone higher up . Also if you spoke with a rep from US Cell he or she should be able to verify your intentions . Dont pay it and dont be threataned or intimidated by them . As long as you properly noitified them and Verisoin was aware of the date of expiry with US cell then its their fault . Don't give up even though it seems like your going in circles . And get that US Cell rep involved too ..
