Does wifi on your phone cost money? Blackberry 8520 in particular...?

I'm looking to buy the Blackberry Curve 8520, and it says it has wifi. Around my neighborhood there are numerous networks i can connect to via my laptop, I was wondering if i could still connect to them through the Blackberry? And if so, would this cost? Thank youuuuuuu

1. WiFi always costs extra unless they are running a special on free WiFi, which is rare anymore. Certain companies will offer discounted plans if you buy a certain type of phone though, so try that angle and see what kind of deal you can get.

All WiFi means is that your blackberry will be able to connect to a wireless router and access the internet through someones broadband connection instead of the cell phone network :) *Edit, to clarify what everyone is saying: FREE at home/friends house, it may cost you in public places such as airports and coffee shops*
3. the answer to your question is yes you can connect to those networks using your WiFi phone and it wont cost you one cent . Have fun
4. Wi-Fi improves performance of the phone, but it is still data usage on your cell phone plan. Check with your provider to be sure.
