Which Wifi router to buy for long range?
I am having a problem. My wifi router is situated at one end of the house (Phone line does not extend any further!) and my computers are placed in the basement which is at the other end at 50 feet distance. I am using the very standard Bettel wifi router which is unable to transmit the signals down to the basement. Could you please advise on which Wifi router would be a correct choice for it to penetrate till the 50 feet and also cross obstacles and reach my basement. I have looked at Belkin G, and Dlink 150 so far. Anyone out there who had similar problem and found a solution to the same? What are the parameters which i need to take into consideration?? Please reply quick! 10 points will be given immediate to the BEST answer ASAP!

- wireless n.Wireles n features multiple in multiple out technology so it penetrates farther and penetrates concrete and into basement. the $79 belkin one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Belkin+-+Share+Max+N300+802.11b/g/n+Wireless+Router+with+Gigabit+Ports/1002402.p?id=1218207304203&skuId=1002402&st=blekin%20n300&cp=1&lp=1 has seen many good reviews. belkins have been known to break alot but so far it seems this one maybe is escaping the problem. the good companies i would recommend is d-link and netgear. linksys is still on top but is morer pricey for the same features the d-link and netgears offer. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/NETGEAR+-+RangeMax+Wireless-N+Router+with+4-Port+Ethernet+Switch/9826302.p?id=1218179420063&skuId=9826302&st=netgear%20wireles%20n&cp=1&lp=2 this netgear is pretty good but this one should do better http://www.bestbuy.com/site/NETGEAR+-+RangeMax+Dual-Band+Wireless-N+Router+with+4-Port+Gigabit+Ethernet+Switch/9331403.p?id=1218089527534&skuId=9331403&st=netgear%20wireles%20n&cp=1&lp=3 with wireless n dual band the 5ghz band is unused so it has better range. but the top 2 routers are all you need. wireless n offers up to 1000 ft but in an actual house the range is at around 200-300ft or about an acre of coverage. the belkin and the firsst netgear are the top choices. they are both easy setup and any older g device will still be able to connect and they come with very nice features like the belkins torrent genie and the netgears wifi protected setup(1 click connect) if you like my answer plz give me best. i do networking a lot in my house and play with wireless n/dual band and all that all day long. more info: the belkin comes with very good features like print genie(print wirelessly) wps, and backup but the netgear(first link) i have bought before for a customer and has very good range. the router was situated i an atic 3 floors above and on the other end of the house about 60ft away i the basement(stone and concret) i was able to get excelelnt signal and a steady 104mbps transfer rate! its up to you but the netgear i have tested and has very good range so at this momment i am recommending the netgear as i have not teested the belkin 300 yet(i have tested belkin 150 but not thru concrete and such) i have edited this more than 7 times to best suite your needs. i a typing fast as you need it asap so sorry for the spelling mistakes, hope i get best answer
- Fifty feet is not far at all. I routinely use my very unremarkable Linksys 802.11g router from further away than that. What matters far more is what's in the way. As for your "very standard" Bettel router, I've never seen one, so I can't make any comparisons.
