Does it charge for data for going onto MSN or AIM on a ATT Phone?

I have a texting plan, and would like to go on msn messenger or AIM on my cell phone. But I do not have a dataplan and do not wanna go on, and then get the bill adding a whole bunch of extra charges for data. SO does it cost data to go on msn or aim on an ATT phone?

1. I know that it doesn't cost extra to go on aim, since you only have to pay for the messages sent and received. MSN I'm not so sure about.
