is it possible to get a 3G Verizon phone without the data package?

I am ready for an upgrade on cell phones and I am looking at any phone that has a qwerty keyboard. that is a must. I don't use the web or v cast or download items. I only like to text and take pictures. I currently have a LG EN V2 and I love it! Is there a verizon phone that's good where I can get what I want and not have to get the $9.99+ data packages required? Is it possible to get the data package and delete it after one month? Thanks.

1. Not if you get a phone on a contract and a subsidy. They make their money back on the phone discount by mandatory add-ons, including data plans on data phones. If you don't want to get a data plan, get a phone that is not Internet capable.
2. Yes you can. i had this same problem. the problem that the phone companys were having is that people were using the internet on their phone and then complaining when they got a $300 phone bill. Talk to a customer service rep and be adament that you don't use the internet.
3. The data package must remain on your line as long as the phone is active on your line. The LG Cosmos and Samsung Intensity are both phones that have QWERTY keyboards but do not require the data plan.
