Im I eligible for an upgrade thru a store for a phone?(ATT customer)?

I broke my phone but removed my insurance from my plan! I want to see if I can get the iphone! but on my online account it says im eligible for an upgrade until january 2011. I've head if I go to the ATT store they can upgrade my sooner than january!?

2. I am also an AT&T customer, and my phone broke a few months before the contract was out. I went to the store and they let me upgrade early. I have had nothing but good experiences with the customer service department at AT&T. I would ask, the worst that will happen is they will say no.
