Is GPS free if you have the unlimited data plan on the lg droid?

I think my friend told me that on his droid he got the unlimited data plan and that he could use the GPS without paying the $9.99 a month fee that you are charged for gps on the other Verizon phones. When I called Verizon they told me that was not the case. Can anyone shed some light on this?

This includes Google maps, which has the navigation, along with Facebook, Twitter, and thousand of other applications. You are not charged an extra $9.99 for any navigation, as it is included in your $30.00 unlimited fee.
