tracfones???? aka the pay as you go fones?

k soo i have a att cell phone with the cheapest plan (9.99) without texting. it really sucks. but anyway my parents are weird and wont let me get texting so i'm thinking about getting a tracfone, where you dont need a credit card or anything and can be under 18 (ithink) anyway i was just wondering is this really as good as it sounds? no contract, pay as you go, all you have to do is buy a card and a cheap phone and it works? also, when you buy the card what do you do with the code that you scratch off, like do you need an account or anytyhing???

1. You type the code in the phone to ativiate airtime. txt messages cost 1/2 a minute to send and 1/2 a minute to recieve.
2. They are good if your looking for texting and saving money but they don't have any accessories. You cant take pictures record sounds or anything like that. They are a simple phone that you can call and text people. Adding airtime is a little annoying though. You have to go to a store and buy airtime then you have to call the company and go through a bunch of questions. Their not the best but they work.
