LG Wireless Phone

How do I persuade my parents into letting me get a phone, they never say yes!?

Every single friend of mine has a cell phone except me. They're always texting each other around me and I feel totally left out. I have over $1,000 in my bank account and I could afford a nice phone (I really want this: http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phone-details/?device=Samsung+a777+-+Lime&q_sku=sku3640250 ). Whenever I ask them, they say I don't need one. It totally frustrates me and some people tease me for not having a cell. Whenever I'm around my friends, we go out and are alone, and when I need to call my parents I have to use my friend's cell phone. I'm responsible and mature, too. I just don't see what keeps me from getting one, when my parents are always really nice. Whenever I bring up the subject we all get annoyed and mad at each other. How should I persuade them into letting me get a cell phone? Thanks!

  1. "Hey mom, If I (get an a in math, do my chores, ect, ect.) can I buy myself a phone?" Worked for tons of people I know. Except one, but it turns out that her 'rents had got her a phone for graduation!
  2. Maybe starting out with a prepaid phone would make them feel better, that way there is no unexpected bill, you get what you pay for and you learn to limit.
  3. My six year old has a phone, not because she needs one but because we don't have a house phone and it was cheaper to just add a line to our family plan. Can you Do some things to show her extra responsibility? Try bringing up a prepaid phone that way you can't charge up a bill without realizing it. Good luck. My niece wanted a phone so bad she stole mine and then lost it! At least you aren't doing that.
  4. i had the same problem actually It was Horrible i brought one without my parents knowing and they found it i wasn't in trouble they didn't look at me for ac mouth no lie i Think you should sit your parents down and tell them You are very responsible for a phone and that you will keep it up
  5. 1) get a job. Gget a real job, not just 20 hour a week at MCDonald's 3) Go for at least 6 months, holding down a REAL job AND getting good grades. This shows your parents that your are responsible. 4) Show your parents that you are responsibleby getting ALL your home chores and homework done EVERY NIGHT without them asking you. 5) Grow up and learn that teasing about not having a cell phone shows that YOUR FRIENDS are really immature. 6) Show your parents that YOU are mature by getting some new friends that are also mature. 7) Show your parents that you are mature by not even THINKING about using a savings account to get a phone. Savings are for college tuition -- and you are not even CLOSE. you persuade you parents by actring in a responsible and mature manner. By making silly choices without PROVING that you are mature and responsible, you just prove to your parents that you are not rwady for a phone.
  6. As a parent, I feel that for safety's sake the my daughter having a phone is important (as long as we can afford it). Make a list of the positive aspects of having your own phone and try once again to talk to your parents. You need to realize though that the inexpensive phone plans have by the minute charges for use and charge by the text message. My daughter sends/receives 3 to 5 thousand text messages a month so we have unlimited texting...it's very easy to lose track! Some of the positive things could be: you would pay for the phone and monthly charges yourself if you got stranded somewhere you could call them A pre paid phone would be a great idea to start with. It could be that your parents are not able to sign for a phone due to bad credit or they've heard horror stories about kids running up phone bills of hundreds of dollars. Your bank account isn't a college fund, is it? Because if it is, that changes the whole picture.
  7. You should tell them that you might really need a phone on you in the event of an emergency. What if you get lost or something? You should be able to contact them or the police. Worked for me, good luck.
  8. Well, if your old enough to get a part time job perhaps you could bring to your parent's attention that you would pay for it. Not sure what city your from but phone services like MetroPC, Kricket and BoostMoble are really great because the have one flat rate where you can text, talk and picture take unlimited. Good Luck with the phone and parents. Be patient, your parents just want to hold on to you and your child hood as long as they can charish that. i'm a parent of two teenage girls and it's not easy for us. Bye Bye.
