i want to send international text to someone in afghanistan and i live in usa what is cheapest way to do this?

I have a us cellular mobile phone and the other party in afghanistan has a verizon wireless phone. What is the best way to send text messages. Do we both need international plans, do we need the same phones, etc? Im looking for a carrier that has unlimited international text messaging.

1. go to smsfre.com/afghanistan It's a web one and it's free. The other person will probably want to get a phone there because it's a lot cheaper and covers the area better. Also, the texting is going to cost you a pretty penny to do from your phone but going through this service is way cheaper. I did this with my husband when he was deployed there and then got on IM when he could. Good luck.
