Will my Att cell phone plan become renewed if I add texting to it?

My 2 year att contract already expired and Im just going on a monthly basis right now. But I want to add a texting plan to it, but will that renew the contract to another 2 years?

1. absolutely not. AT&T stopped extending contracts for changing your plan or adding features back in 2002 or somewhere around there
2. I agree with de. I've added and changed by text plan recently without an extension to my contract.
