Can i transfer my prepaid ATT Go phone number to a Verizon Contract account?

I don't want to get a new number just because i am going from a prepaid phone to a contract. Will i have to?

3. I know on AT&T when I had prepaid I got it switched to an AT&T family plan, but with Verizon not sure. Maybe not I'm not sure how At&t worked for me.
