How can i switch my phone number to my old phone?

Okay so my latest phone broke and i have verizon wireless. I need a phone right now for important things so i've decided to use my old verizon phone. how can I switch my number back to my old phone?

1. You can go to the local Verizon Wireless store, go to the Technical area of the store, and tell them you want to transfer your service to your old Verizon phone. However, I'm not sure if you get charged for this....
