LG Wireless Phone

I have an ATT cell phone right now and it's about 5 yrs old. ?

I'm two months behind on paying my bill and it might get shut of before I can afford to pay it. I'm wondering if I were to pay off my phone can I get a prepaid cell with no contract from a different company and still switch my phone number over? Does anyone know? yeah, I really want to keep my phone number. I just didn't know if it was possible doing that with a prepaid phone cause I HATE contracts.. I end up paying too much and I don't use my enough to make it worth it.

1. generally speaking (not always) your phone number is your phone number and it is portable to another company. ask your new company if you can bring it with you - if not try another company like Virgin Mobile or Cricket etc. It becomes a major headache for you and your contacts if you get a new number and have to start over.
