can you activate an old ATT phone that someone gave you, without having an Att account under your name.?
Ok here's the deal. My company give us a cell phone under an AT&T plan, that we still have to pay for monthly ourselves. They charge at flat $100. fee, with only unlimited nation wide calling. No text, no other anything. I have another phone that my friend gave me that she had with AT&T. I have a sim card from one of my replacement phones from my company that was taken out and my company phone sim card put in. my question is: Can I take that sim card and put it with the old AT&T phone (from my friend) and have it activated in my name.

- ok first off, that's rip-off! 100 a month? w0w! the answer to your quations is that is the simcard is not currently activated you first need to get it activated, wich would be smart because other wise ATT will charge you 25 bucks for a new sim card, just go into an ATT dealer.good luck!
- yes you can. Im assuming that when you got a replacement phone, it came with a new SIM card that you did not use because you already had one that your company has you use for your phone so the new SIM you got is inactive. You can absoulutely use that SIM. You can activate a new line of service at any time and when you sign up, they will ask you (if you order over the phone) if you need a new phone or SIM card. You need to tell them that you already have a phone and an unregistered never used SIM card. They will say okay, give me the SIM card number so you look on the unused SIM card you have and give them that long number that is on the front. Then the person working at at&t will activate the SIM card under your name, you pay the $36 activation fee and thats it! no contract or anything because you are providing yourself with a phone already. so if you have any other questions or i did not explain something properly, you can send me an email If you want to order a new line of service, call 1-800-331-0500. You don't even need to mention that your company gave you a phone. Just make sure that you can shut off that service that you pay $100 a month on first before you sign up for new service. Your boss might allow you to do that because you should tell him that you didn't intend on paying $100 for unlimited calling only. Tell them that you will be providing your own at&t service.
