- You can try to make a deal with Verizon, but usually they will not let you terminate your contract unless you can show evidence of having no reception in your area. Otherwise, you'll have to buy a phone outright to keep your verizon account as is or dock it down to the lowest possible plan and keep paying on it until your amount to terminate goes down or finally reaches the date you're out of contract.
- The only way you can really get out of your contract would be if you moved to an area that you don't receive service in. If you where really committed, you could find an area that they don't cover, and call their customer support to inform them of this. They may or may not ask you for proof though, but if they believe you it would get you out of your contract. There's really no other way to get out of your contract, unless it involves you moving. Sorry for the bad news, but you can always try what I suggested. Anyways, regarding the 3GS. The phone is great, but not very different from the 3G. I know this because I've owned both, and the only differences I've noticed are: 3GS can record, better camera, and voice control. The battery length is a bit better, and the 3GS doesn't seem much faster to me. You may, or may not care, but I am only offering you my opinion in case you do get the iPhone. Apple does still sell the 3G, and you could buy it for only $99 from them. Best of luck!
- Paying $150 for terminate you contract NOW is may be a better way if you cant bargain not to pay.If you wait later for a lower termination fee,the sum of money maybe will as much as now, because you still have to pay monthly usage up to the time the termination fee goes down, plus you get (extra) hassle of your bad phone. But ensure your area has better reception with AT&T.You can check it by (maybe) asking to your neighbour who has ATT.
