How can I change my PUK code on my att phone?

ok so i turned on my phone and it was asking me for a PUK code and i don't remember having one or putting one. Without, it I cant access to my phone. How can i change it or know what it is? What does PUK stand for? Its a Att phone. Thanks!!

1. you dont change ur puk code its what u need if u want to change networks, if u want it call att
2. ok if its askin for the puk code it means tht sim card is locked, dont try to guess no more passwords for it, if u tried it 10 times or more you locked up your sim card and will have to go to at&t and get a new one, meaning u lose all ur contacts n what so ever., if not it is still active and you gotta call at&t customer service, and tell them tht ur phone has been locked with the puk code, they are going to ask u a couple questions and will give u the password for the puk code if it dont work then u probably already locked it after trying several times.
