If a phone has WiFi can you go on Myspace, msn etc for free anywhere?
I'm planning on getting a Sony Ericsson w705 or a Nokia N97. Both these phones have Wifi and I was just wondering if you can use wifi anywhere like home etc. And can you go on sites like Myspace, msn and such? Also does it cost you anything? I'm new to the mobiles and Wifi technicalities Lol.

- Yes most phones have myspace apps too
- There must be a WiFi "hotspot" for you to get on the internet. Otherwise, you won't be able to.
- Wi-Fi is a term to mean broadcasting of a signal. Your phone will not have wi-fi in it, but wi-fi capabilities to receive the signal. So if your near a wi-fi signal you input into your phone or if the phone comes with a plan of its own, yes you will be able to browse myspace and other things.
- If your phone has WIFI capabilities (Wireless Lan) and you have WIFI router at home or office, then its quite simple. Go to the Web section of your phone / scan for wireless network ..once found enter the key and browse. But at the end of the day, u need to pay the service provider (which will be ur broadband company). In India, public Wifi is not freely available except in some airport / hotels.
- I have a Palm Pre. It has WiFI, so basically that means I can connect to a wireless network and browse sites like you mentioned "faster" and with out using the carriers network. When I am not connected to wifi I can still browse the same sites, only a little slower. This is because I am using the carriers network as my "internet" connection. I have the "simply everything" plan from sprint, which they advertise as having "everything" @ $99. It is FALSE. It is limited to 5GB of data per month. So are most carriers. so far I haven't went over but have come close a few times. I like mostly watching youtube videos on my phone.
