switching from verizon to att for iphone?

i had lg vx8300 the phone died all of a sudden few days ago basically i cant turn the phone on ...it works with a charger..took the phone to verizon they examined the battery it was fine..they were unable to find the cause of the malfunction..verizon just said the phone died.. i had insurance on the phone which i canceled last week just few days before the phone died...i canceled bacause i am now eligable for a new phone .... my contract with verizon will end september 2nd called verizon to find out about the early termination fee ..they said because i am a long time customer i have to pay $175 early termination fee if i would cancel my account.. only new customer since last year are proated if they do cancel earlier... i am thinking about switching to att for the iphone release date is july 11th what should i do with verizon what options are there? mein plan is $39 a month plus fees how to proceed with att? how can i get from them a phone until i can change it to iphone? thank you

1. You should switch to att meanwhile get a gophone. some of them are only 20 dollars. and go to the att store on the day the iphone comes out.
2. Are you planning to port the number to AT&T? (Keeping your current mobile number) If you are planning to keep the number, you will need to wait until the contract ends otherwise you will have to pay early termination fee. If you are planning to get new number then get the iphone on July 11. Regards to Verizon Wireless, call customer servce and asked them to suspend the service without extending the contract where you pay $10 per month for it and after your contract end then cancel the service. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO SUSPEND THE SERVICE UNTIL YOUR CONTRACT DATE AND PORT THE NUMBER TO ATT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR LINE IS ACTIVE STATUS WHEN YOU PORT THE NUMBER TO DIFFERENT CARRIER.
