Is the LG Shine cell phone a good phone?

I am getting my very first cell phone (that's not prepaid) for my birthday and my dad found the LG Shine from AT&T and I thought it looked really cool. Also is AT&T a good carrier?

1. at&t is an amazing carrier,but the LG SHINE is a piece of crap . i know this might sound prissy, but its the truth. the best phones in att carriers is the palm, blackberry, and the iphone. try asking ur dad about them. but dont get the blackberry shine! my close friend has that and its a horrible phone . OMGG they now have an iphone thats 8gb and only 100 dollarss ! im seriouss !!
2. the lg shine is good, but at&t isnt so great. anyways for where i live. where u live you could have better service.
