iPhone with AT&T, or some other phone with Verizon?

Okay, so I turn 18 in June, and was planning to swith providers, and i was thinking about making the switch to AT&T (though the only phone I would consider is the iPhone), or to Verizon, with a phone like the Samung Omnia or LG Dare. I was wondering which I should go with (and trust me, I have no qualms about typing on the iPhone). I am planning to go to university in the Northeast if that makes a difference. Oh, and should I even make the jump to the iPhone, or stick with an iPod touch?

1. 1. Does att and verizon have coverage at your school? #2. What do you want with a phone? Wihout a list, we cannot recommend you a phone based on your needs. #3. Why do you need an ipod, when 99% of phones can play the same multimedia formats, and 50% of phones can play more file formats?
