Is there a way that I can get wifi from my cell phone for my laptop?

Okay so I heard that if you were in the woods or somewhere that doesn't have internet hook up (wifi) that some laptops can get wifi through your cell phone. Is this true? I have a samsung enternity cell phone through AT&T with an internet connection plan. My laptop is a MacBook Pro (its a year old). Not sure if that makes a difference at all as to the cell phone you have or the laptop you have.

1. it is true this can be done but you need a certain data plan and have to have the right cell phone to do it. the action of using your cellphone as a modem is called tethering so i would try some google searches on that
2. You have to have a tethering plan to use your cellphone as a mobile broadband receiver for your laptop.
