will a LG Chocolate cell phone work on the cingular network, even though it is sold by verizon?

I'm thinking about buying an LG VX-8500 chocolate cell phone from ebay, but I am a cingular network customer. so, i'm wondering if i purchased the phone, if it would even recognize my network because the phone is only sold by verizon.

1. no because cingular is a gsm and verizon is not , so it will not work (look on the web),you can buy a unloock cellphone.
2. unfortunately it will not work because verizon is a cdma network where cingular is gsm the main thing is that verzon phones dont use sim cards. the only company you could share phones with if they are unlocked is t-mobile. also there are plenty of overseas phones that are unlocked gsm online ......ebay hope that helps
