LG Wireless Phone

Switched from Qwest to Verizon online & now they want an 800 security deposit. Cancel order?

Being as Qwest is switching to Verizon for wireless services, I put in an order (picked my phone, plan, and paid for these charges). After the typical confirmation e-mail, I was sent another saying that I needed to pay an $800 security deposit (I know I have bad credit...but that's ridiculous). Now I want to cancel my order and get the money back for the phones. I'll be refusing the phones when the delivery arrives and have them sent back to Verizon. The question is, am I technically under contract? Will have to pay a termination fee even if I never activate the phones?

  1. Verizon has a 30 day "test drive" policy and you can cancel during this time with no penalties, termination fees, etc. Before cancelling, you might want to call Verizon and explain that you are already a Qwest customer and see if there is anything they can do to waive that outrageous security deposit. If they still refuse, then you can cancel as you are still within the 30 days considering you haven't even received the phones. If I were you I'd try calling first. Good luck!
