What are my options for getting wireless internet on my laptop?

I just bought a laptop. I already have a desktop computer that I have internet on. I would like to have internet access on my laptop. Do I have to buy a USB plug through a wireless company and pay monthly or is there any way to hook my laptop up to the same internet that is on my desktop whether wireless or not. We have internet through our phone company (Qwest) so I'm not sure if that's possible. What are my options?

1. Just connect your laptop to your router either thru wireless or ethernet cable...Just set it up the same way your desktop is connected to the internet You can have more than 1 computer connected to your home internet ...I have 2 laptops and a desktop using my internet , all wireless
2. Buy a wireless router and follow the instructions for set up. Should cost about $50 and you won't pay a monthly fee above and beyond what you already pay for internet.
