Is there anything that can be done to an LG cell phone sold by Alltel so it will work on the AT&T network?
The LG phone (Scoop) is not offered by Cingular (AT&T) with whom I have a family plan. Alltel does not serve my area.

- No, Alltel and at&t use different standards. Alltel uses CDMA (and next generation improvements) while at&t uses GSM (2G) and UMTS. Althought UMTS is a CDMA based technology, the two are not compatible.
- Yep, throw it in the trash. Buy a new phone from AT&T. Problem solved.
- Hey, if you don't need that LG phone you can sell in on ebay and buy another phone that you need. purchase any cell phone on ebay and here is the coupon for 10% off when you pay with paypal. Click the link below and enter CFALLSAVINGS10P
- Alltel is CDMA carrier and their phones don't use simcards where as AT&T is a GSM carrier and the phone must be GSM to make it work - Since both of them use difference technology it's impossible to make an Alltel phone work with AT&T. Hope this helps.
