cell phone batteries?

i just got a new cell phone: LG enV touch. now i wanna do this right. What must I do in order to make sure the battery lasts a long time? I've heard all sorts of things and I'm not sure what/who's right. phone uses a lithium battery. i was told to charge it normally (charge when low, if in rush, ok to under charge) and completely charge it and completely discharge it once a month to "calibrate" the battery. I've also been told that charging and completely and discharging it completely decreases battery life span. and that Over charging is bad...correct? what exactly should i do? what exactly should i not do?

1. The longer you have your battery connected to the wall it limits your recharge cycles for the future. Try to get full charges and defer from overnight charging
