changing ATT cell phone plan, will it extend my current contract?

i just signed up with ATT (iphone) and I want to downgrade to a family plan with less anytime minutes. I have family plan right now. will this extend my contract?

1. Ask AT&T or read the contract.
2. More than likely. Anytime you do anything they make you change the contract because they're evil.
