can i use a Tmobile phone with an ATT plan?

i have an ATT plan but i HATE their phones. i really want a Tmobile phone, but if i buy the phone and put my sim card in it, will it work? will it still go onto my ATT phone bill and everything? and if its locked, which store do i take it in to get it unlocked? and is it allowed? a lot of questions. i know. sorry.

1. You would have to buy the phone without a contract and then try to see if they will give you the subsidy unlock code (this is the code you enter to use a foreign SIM card). If not, you will have to take it to a mobile phone store so they can unlock it for you, look it up in the yellow pages and see how much they charge, ect. Yes, an AT&T SIM card will work with any GSM phone that is AT&T/Cingular Branded or otherwise Unlocked.
