can i use the same sims card in an att phone?

my niece needs a phone and we have an att pay as you go phone. she has a singular pay as you go, she thinks you can use the sims card from the att phone and put it in the singular and buy minutes and that will work. is she right because so far its not working and i think it is not going too. am i right or wrong?

1. Your right, in order to use an at&t sim card, you have to have an At&t phone. There is no Cingular any longer so you'd have to call At&t to see if you could get the phone switched over to At&t. Same goes with a T-Mobile phone, if you're trying to use an At&t sim card in a T-Mobile phone, you'd have to call T-mobile to get it switch to At&t. They have to give you a code of some sort to release (unlock) the phone. But you have to qualify to have it released. Hope the helps
