Will Alltel's Scoop work with Verizon Wireless? -Merger Question?

My family and I are currently on US Cellular. We are planning on joining Verizon Wireless April 1st with a family plan. Everyone's happy except for one of the family who insists that the LG Scoop is the phone for her. The Scoop is on Alltel and a friend of her's is selling her "pink" scoop. If my sister buys the scoop off her friend, will s he be able to get it activated with Verizon Wireless?
