Will my cell phone insurance cover a different phone if my current one is broken?

So here is the deal, I broke my cell phone by accident (farm accident) and I need a new one. Im under alltel and I have their 5 dollar a month in surance thing where I can pay 50 bucks for a new phone if mine is broken. Is it possible for me to get a different phone model than my current one if the new phoen would be of equal or lesser value? could you also tell me how I go about doing such a thing and if you have ever done it before?
