why can't I get blackberry bold wifi to work?

I have added the network I want to connect to, but when you go to the manage connection area on the phone.. the wifi has a dash next to it.. unlike the check mark next to the mobile network or even the x showing my bluetooth is off. what did I do wrong during set up? I don't know if it makes any difference, but I don't have a data plan.. just unlimited texting.

1. im not sure what's wrong with your phone, but on mine it has a check mark and then instead of saying on it says my network name. go get it checked out. good luck!
